Kerry, Steven’s article is not refuted by Matt. 20:29-30. I address this in my comments on Gen. 6 in “The Epic of God.” From the footnote: “It is possible for Matt 22:30 and parallel passages to coexist with this interpretation. Jesus’ statement could represent a post-Flood reality, he may have meant that angels cannot marry one another, or not had rebellious angels in mind at all—’in heaven’ being the key phrase.”

David, I’m very sorry you walked away with that impression. I assure you that it was not my intent to give that impression. This article concerns the human perversion of sound doctrine, not the sound doctrine taught in God’s Word that we are to believe and adhere to. Hope this helps… Blessings.

Thanks Jeffrey. I would respectfully disagree on what Jesus meant when he said “a second is like it.” He clearly taught elsewhere that poor relationships with others trumps our relationship with God (Matt 5:23-24). Thanks for reading!

Trae, gross as it sounds, it had to do with the genitals being the source of posterity and blessing. The blessing/birthright had to do with the lineage continuing to prosper.

Robert, you’re right. It was very common. I discussed that very thing in chapter 7 of “Epic.” But I maintain that what culture tolerates and God allows are often worlds apart.

I agree, David. I too seek balance. Using Scripture, we must discern what is an abomination to God and what is an offense to our opinions. It is the latter I was addressing. I believe love should be the acid-test for our motives.

Chris, I have been mulling how to address the minor prophets. I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on how they could be addressed collectively while still respect their individual personalities and contributions.
