Praying the Scriptures: A Prayer Meditation of Psalm 99

The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!
The Lord is great in Zion,
And He is exalted above all the peoples.
Let them praise Your great and awesome name;
Holy is He.
The strength of the King loves justice;
You have established equity;
You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.

Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His footstool;
Holy is He.

Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
And Samuel was among those who called on His name;
They called upon the Lord and He answered them.
He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
Lord our God, You answered them;
You were a forgiving God to them,
And yet an avenger of their evil deeds.
Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For holy is the Lord our God. (Psalm 99, NASB)

O Lord, You reign over us. May we ever honor You and recognize Your reign over us.

I praise You, O God. I bring honor to Your holy name. I pray that all of humankind would do the same.

You are a God of justice and righteousness. You see all people as being equal. You alone are able to view us as we are meant to be viewed. Help us to be more like You in our treatment of others.

You are holy and You alone are worthy of my worship!

When I read of Your interactions with Moses, Aaron, and Samuel I am reminded that You are a God of relationships. You pursue us. You give us direction.

O God, help us to follow Your lead in our lives. Remind us that You are there and that we should call on You and commune with You.

Please forgive us as you forgave our spiritual ancestors when they sinned against You.

We exalt You. We worship You. We honor You as the Holy One above all others!
